Alfred Lawrence Ripley was born in Hartford, Connecticut on November 6, 1858. Following graduation from Yale College (B.A. 1878) he pursued further studies and taught at Yale (1885-1888) before returning to a career in the family banking business in Boston. From 1923-1927 he served as director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He was an alumni fellow on the Yale Corporation (1899-1933) and a trustee of Phillips-Andover Academy. He died on October 13, 1943 in Andover, Massachusetts. ...
